★☆☆☆☆ Disappointing Experience – Misrepresented and Poorly Managed We are full-time campers, traveling across the country and recently stayed at The Lake Campground in Ohio while visiting family near the Portage Lakes area. This was one of the few places nearby, and the website made it look perfect — a 6-acre lake with floating docks, slides, basketball hoops, concessions for ice cream and pizza, pavilions with picnic areas, and outdoor grills. It seemed ideal for family gatherings. We booked online for three weeks, adding firewood and ice to our order, and paid $897 for what was advertised as a full hook-up site. Unfortunately, what we found was nothing like what was represented online. Despite calling multiple times before arrival, no one ever answered or returned our calls about check-i
Overall a mixed experience. The sites are nice and wide. The lake was a blast for the kids even though rain kicked up a lot of algae. The pet restrictions made it hard to enjoy camping with the dogs. Also, having to pay a quarter to use the shower was an unexpected frustration. Not sure why I had to pay for basic amenities after already paying the site fee. The grounds are kept up pretty well even if some of the equipment is looking dated.
We stayed here 9/6 and 9/7/2023. This park caters to seasonal renters, but saves a few spots for travelers staying just a few nights. It's geared to families and was almost deserted after Labor Day. Lots of empty trailers without occupants. The park is older and needs updating. The bathrooms have vault toilets and the shower is very primitive. Everything else was locked up and shut down. For $60 a night, we expected better facilities. Our site had trash and there was trash around the bathouse. I'm sure this is a fun place for kids in the summer, but it wasn't our cup of tea.
This place is amazing. It is so fun and family friendly. They have amazing kids club events, and weekend events for adults and kids. They have amazing staff, great campground and all together a amazing place! They have great playgrounds, in the campground and by the water, they have mini golf and goats and even a jump pad, they also serve Hunt Brothers Pizza, and offer a delivery service to your campsite! Great Place
My wife and I are members at the Lake Campground, and we have 5 children that just love it. I think the owners do a great job at making it safe and fun for all. Thank you Kris and Amy for holding people accountable for their actions, It makes for a nice peaceful place for my family.
