The Joyful Recovery House

My last surgery in 2020 I stayed at Joyful Recovery House. DO NOT STAY THERE! It was a horrible experience. They picked me up after my surgery 2 hours late. When I got there my roommate had to get me something to drink because you have to stay hydrated. No one literally checks up on you, you have to go find someone & even then you might not find anyone. This girl passed out in the shower due to the water being too hot and no one was watching her, another girl from the house had to help her. I bought a faja from them and when they were supposed to wash it, they lost it! They also wash everybody’s bloody faja’s together in the same load. The only “nurse” there is the owner Joy’s mom. If it wasn’t for Joy’s mother there would be NO ONE in the house to help out. I feel like they should’ve made

I stayed here for my surgery and the staff was WONDERFUL! I was so sad to leave. They treated me like family and were over staffed at all times. Consistently checking in and asking if I need anything along with taking my vitals. They Would take me to the bathroom as many times as I wanted and were so patient with me. They completely took care of me I couldn’t have been in better hands. The food was also homemade and delicious and I always had water or a Gatorade by my side. Overall Joy , her mother, and the staff were beyond amazing. They make me want to come back and stay even without surgery. I would not stay here! First of all, I paid my $200 deposit in March and hadn’t heard back from them until my surgery in May. When I arrived in Miami (from Detroit), they had not answered there phone after calling for 6 hours straight. I found the address on google and pulled up. The owner was not there and the lady that took my money did not even know I was coming. I had my own ride to surgery and the recovery house was suppose to pick me up. When I arrived to the facility they hadn’t even answered for an entire hour. You can’t get the surgery until your ride home is confirmed. They never filled my prescriptions (which is suppose to be included). My boyfriend had to pick them up then bring them to me after surgery. I waited in the recovery part of the facility for an hour after I woke up

I literally love recovering with joy! Her staff is amazing! Gina, Stassi & Daniel are spectacular!!!!!!!! I am very dramatic & don’t take pain very well, they were patient, gentle , caring and kind. The food was amazing. Attentive even my 3am crying & need to use the bathroom throughout the night. They were right there.

Thank you Joy, Ingrid and the rest of your wonderful team! I was not sure what to expect based on reviews, but I was beyond impressed with how attentive and caring everyone was. I actually felt like a princess being pampered by all of the attention. These women go beyond the call of duty to make sure you are well cared for at all times. I want to come back soon! Your employees love what they do and it shows. Honestly, thank you again!
