The Inn & Tavern at Meander

We stayed two nights for a couples getaway and were pleased. Yes, the grounds and the buildings are in need of some work, but the Summer Kitchen was VERY comfortable and clean. We missed dinner, but we enjoyed our breakfasts! At first, we were slightly disappointed because it didn't match the photos on the website, but what we found was a place with a lot of character, amazing staff, a gorgeous view, and a pleasant trail that takes you along the river. I would love to revisit when the trees are green and the flowers are in bloom, and to go fishing! They are about to start a renovation, and I look forward to seeing the changes they make!

My husband and I stayed at the Inn & Tavern at Meander the night before Thanksgiving through the day after Thanksgiving 2025. In considering your stay at Meander, it is important to consider the price point for the accommodations and food. The facilities are in rennovated plantation structures from the 1700's, but they have all the modern conveniences. Thus, I would describe the facilities as rustic, but very comfortable and inviting. It would be hard to replicate the quality and comfort of the facilities at a price point anywhere near what we paid. The food at the Tavern was wonderful. There was a beautiful butternut squash/apple soup that was so lovely we had it each night. The salads were prepared with interesting combinations of ingredients. There were a nice variety of entrees

We stayed at the Inn at Meander for one night and absolutely loved our experience. The property is full of charm and history, and our room was beautiful, especially the wood-burning fireplace, which made the stay feel cozy and special. We chose the Inn because the other options in the area were mostly generic chain hotels, and we wanted something more unique. The staff was excellent, and the onsite breakfast was very good. The only small downside was that the bathroom could use some updating, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. We would absolutely stay here again and already have plans to return soon. We’ve been recommending the Inn at Meander to everyone we know because it’s a more affordable option that offers a truly unique and memorable stay.

On the surface our room,the Summer Kitchen, was lovely. Underneath it was in need of maintenance. No light bulbs in bathroom overhead or shower. Maintenance came and did replace overhead but needed to purchase bulb for shower and never did. Coffee pot broke and wasn't replaced for a day. We had to ask for soap in shower. Soaking tub would have been nice had there been enough hot water to soak. The amenities we look forward to staying at historic inns were absent at this one. There was not any feeling of management wanting to make our stay memorable and enjoyable. All and all it could be a beautiful property if cared for and restored but not worth the price as is.

We liked the Inn. Room was clean and the people we dealt with were very courteous. However, they didn't have the restaurant open for dinner and breakfast. It is a staffing issue is what we were told. It happens, but they should have alerted us before we showed up to check in. Also, they did do a continental breakfast. Again, they should have let us known as soon as possible. I am giving 4 stars because if we had the dining experience we wanted, it would have rated what I am rating it. They also compensated for the Inconvenience. I would recommend giving them a try but make sure the restaurant is going to be staffed and open.
