The Inn at Wells

We tried the Inn at Wells when we could not find last minute lodging anywhere on I-90 between Wisconsin and Blue Earth. To find a basic motel we had to get away from the interstate. This inn is basic. Room 4 has two full/queen beds in a small room with a microwave, mini-fridge, cathode tv with dvd/vcr and a fickle remote, bathroom with shower only, and a very effective window ac. The bathroom is very small and has a damp odor, but all the fixtures work and the water pressure is great.||The rate was quite reasonable, about $50, and was a relief after dodging the chain hotels. This location is not for those that want luxury with their comfort, but is ideal if you want quiet. The surfaces and beds were clean, but the room is too small if using a mobility device, and the carpet manky feeling.

This used to be the Wells Motel, but has gotten a pretentious new name in the past year or so. It was probably built in the early '50s, and has only 6 or 7 rooms. The clerk was nice, but not very bright. It took several tries for him to spell my (short, simple) first name. The rate was pretty decent, $43, including tax.|| The rooms are a little on the small side, but decently equipped. There is a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, as well as a recliner. It was very cold outside, and it took a while for the baseboard heaters to get the room warm. The bed was clean and comfortable. The room was quiet at night, and reasonably dark.|| The bathroom had been redone at least once since the motel was built, and there were no original fixtures left. The Wi-Fi was reliable, and the business center was convenient.

My family and I stayed at this small motel for a week as we visited our family near by. The couple running the place, they introduced themselves as the on-site managers and said if we needed anything to either call or come to the office, were very nice and understood what we were looking for. The rooms were ok, alot of miss match furniture and you could tell someone just wanted to put furniture in the room. The rooms were also musty smelling so a air purifier would of helped a lot in there. The couple asked us to turn off our a/c when we left but we didn't because who wants to come back to a room that is hot from the summer sun, I wouldn't turn it off at home so why would I turn it off some place that I paid to stay at. Needed to stay in the area for business. The Clerk recommended the king suite as I wanted a shower / tub. The room had a kitchenette and large Refrigerator also. I needed the internet. They had wireless, so it was perfect. Great location off the highway.
