The House on the Rock Resort

Beautiful hotel and resort. 2 pools and a hot tub. We had a king room and it was very clean and cozy. Bed was very comfortable and I usually don't sleep well on hotel beds but this was nearly as good as home. Staff was friendly and check in was quick and easy. We will definitely book again on our next visit to the area!

This is our first time staying at this resort and, unfortunately, cannot recommend it especially when you can stay at a much nicer 3-star AmericInn for similar price point in Dodgeville. We rarely leave bad reviews as most places we have stayed have advertised their spaces within reason of expectations. Cell service for Verizon in the rooms is weak, the resort has average-mediocre guest wifi. The resort smells a little musty, the landscaping is in need of care, and the hallway carpet is worn, tired, and stained. We were disappointed with the condition of our first room. We could instantly tell it was quite outdated, the sofa cushions were slumped, mattress of the king bed was slumped, ironing board surface was falling apart, there was hair/pubic hair on the bathroom floor, and a tile

This felt like going back in time, down to earth and helpful front desk staff, well kept and clean public areas and rooms. This is not the place for you if you're expecting new or modern anything. The beauty of the outdated rooms and furnishings was charming and the views of the golf course with beautiful fall colors was very relaxing. Beds more comfortable than expected. Swimming pool area very large and pretty. Pool was like a cold plunge but we enjoyed the spa tub. Great for families.

The rooms/suites are nothing special. Cons: Outdated furniture, artwork, and a bathroom made for a tiny person to use. The tv's are small, there were loose cords hanging down the wall in the sitting area. The toilet was so low to the ground that my husband had his knees to his chest and certain parts of his anatomy were way too close to the toilet water. Golfers: if you need to rent clubs, be ready to pay almost $45. We had to wait almost an hour after the 3 pm check in time for our room to be ready. There is no breakfast included but you could buy a breakfast sandwich at the bar & grill. Pros: A beautiful view of the golf course from the balcony. A very nice golf course but the flying beetles were swarming in areas, which made golfing unpleasant to where we had to get off the golf cour

Lovely location, stunning and well maintained grounds, breakfast was very tasty, and all the staff has been friendly and helpful! I wish I could knock off like half a star instead of a full because personally I feel the mattresses could use with an upgrade. But I also get this is personal preference. Otherwise rooms are nice, spacious, and comfortable! Defiantly recommend staying here
