The Holiday Chalet

I stayed here two years ago and it was awful. There is no on property parking and this wasn’t advertised to me before hand. I had to street park three blocks away and shlep my stuff through the snow. I didn’t even know hotels without parking existed so it never occurred to me to ask if there was parking. Check in is after four but staff leaves around then or before then so there’s no staff to help you check in, answer questions or fix any problems you might have. This also gives the hotel an eerie sad lonely feeling. Also the rooms use a key code with a code that gets text to you which is fine. The problem is there is no bolt lock nor chain nor anything that could ONLY unlock from inside the room so you feel pretty vulnerable. I put a chair against my door. I found a crack pipe in my room

The Holiday Chalet is a beautiful building and our particular room was elegantly decorated. It’s a convenient location right on a major bus line, although it’s probably not the safest or most attractive.||The problem with the Chalet is that management seems clueless when it comes to tending to upkeep. The kitchen is nice but there literally were no forks in the drawer and only a couple of small spoons and one steak knife. Even after twice informing the staff of this fact, it took them four days to drop off a couple of pieces of silverware. There were only a couple of plates and bowls. Plus, half of the knobs on the kitchen cabinets were broke and it was hard and a bit painful to grab what was left to open them.||There were two amazing decorative bedside lamps, but only one of them work

The room was okaym outdated heater that plugged in and took us too long to get working. The walls and mirror were scratched up alot. The bathtub had alot of questionable stains. We found stuff in the blanket on the bed. Imthere was no front desk, luckily we had the service people there who let us into our room to at least drop our stuff because check in wasn't till 6 and we were told we could store our stuff. The no elevator thing is bad because what if we were in a wheelchair or not able to climb 3 flights of stairs? Overall it was not worth the 112 dollars we spent for 1 night. Next time we will go for the days inn if we ever need to go back.

This hotel was such a pleasant surprise. I originally booked it because the rooms are so vintage and gorgeous. When we arrived I thought the outside was to die for. Location is a little bit sketchy but they can’t fix that. And the room was sooooooo gorgeous!!!! It was worth every penny and it’s going to be our new tradition to stay there every year. This is my 3rd stay here, so that says something! I have stayed in 3 different rooms, and this was the coolest yet! The character and uniqueness of this place are incredible!! Such amazing vibes. Only complaint with the Albert Suite was that we couldn't figure out how to get the heater to work, so my husband was freezing. But maybe we're just dumb..it was absolutely beautiful 😍 It's not for everyone, but it's for me! The location is very convenient to both the Fillmore and the Ogden theaters, which is part of the reason we stayed the first time. I will absolutely be back again the next time we go to a show!
