The Historic Hygge Hotel

Absolutely amazing place. Gorgeous room, very well kept for a historic place. Went far out of their way for us during our drive at inconvenient hours. Genuinely very kind and helpful. If I were to stay in the area again, no question I'd go here. Does military discount as well!

If you look for unique experiences in your travels as I do, you need to go to the Historic Hygge Hotel. The owner has taken an old hotel and revitalized it with comfort and a flair. Our room was super comfy but I loved the bathroom. Check out the photos on their website. We would go back in a heart beat if traveling through North Dakota again.

The hotel was very cute and eccentric. checking in and out was very simple. The website said breakfast was available but upon arrival we found out they had to shut the kitchen down due to not enough customers (There was some bread for toast and instant oatmeal along with prepackaged pastries you have to purchase) which was unfortunate they should probably update that. there was a very cute little gift/coffee shop and dining area with some reading material about the historic site. The rooms while cozy and charming, were very small and have paper thin walls and none of the rubber seals around the doors, they also have windows above the doors and an automatic light in the hallway (we stuffed a pillow up there to block the light). The decorative headboard on the bed was not attached to the bed

The room was clean. The service was spectacular. Very helpful in getting our amenities met for our stay very close to the bourder. We thank you very much for your help and kindness. Your staff was also very sweet as well.

We chose this place over a motel hoping to get a cleaner room. We were not disappointed. The rooms were clean, quaint, and old fashioned. We didn't see the owner and it seemed a little unfriendly as they were not there after 7pm. or around before 8 in the morning. Check-in was easy. Powers Lake is beautiful and within walking distance. Both of our rooms had old coffee grinds in the coffee maker which was a bit disconcerting. Overall we were happy with the stay. It did seem a bit overpriced, but perhaps we are not used to traveling.
