Stayed here for one night on my way back to Denver. I was greeted upon arrival by the owner, Christopher(?). He got me checked in quickly and I picked up some beer in his small liquor store. He keeps a great selection of beer, liquor, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages too. Christopher showed me my room and ensured that everything was good. He made some suggestions for a couple restaurants in the area, and also assisted me with planning a couple hikes along the Guanella Pass road. The room appeared to have been recently updated. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean and bed was comfy. There is a nice firepit area out back along the creek, and Christopher started a nice fire out there for the guests so that we could all hang out and visit with each other. The front porch of the motel h
Driving down Highway 285 in Colorado and coming up on a small mountain town you wouldn't think to find a peaceful paradise, but we did!! The town of Grant has something very magical in it. The Grant Motel. From the outside it doesn't look like a fancy hotel, but meet the new owners, Anastasia and Christopher are the warmest, kind people I've met in a very long time. They made us feel so welcome. There aren't any restaurants or fast food joints around, but thinking we might be hungry, they invited us to share their dinner. In the backyard, you're literally feet away from the beautiful Colorado River and there's fire pits and a grill and chairs to just sit back and take in all the glorious beauty of the Rocky Mountains. When you open your front door there's 30 Hummingbirds that drink out of
We stayed at the Kenosha Lodge formally the Grant Motel this weekend. It’s about an hour from Denver and the most perfect get away. It was so peaceful being so close to the river yet close enough to the road, you can’t miss it! The most pleasurable part was the lovely family who recently purchased it. They were so accommodating and made us feel like family. For such a short drive, this trip can easily become an every other weekend reset from the City. Can’t wait to go back!
Owners Christopher and Anastasia make what would be an average motel into an extraordinary one. This is a small, older motel in the process of being updated. The beds are comfortable, the rooms clean and provided with fridges, microwaves and TV. The front faces the road and can be a little noisy, the back faces the river and is delightful with frequent evening bonfires set for the guests. The owners are warm and welcoming, even offering to share their breakfast. The location is at the base of Guanella pass and a great place to stay if you want to get an early start hiking Mt. Bierstadt.
We stopped in on our Big 2018 Road Trip while driving US 285 into Denver. It's not every place where a fully-stocked liquor store doubles as a motel lobby, but the few rooms are spacious and comfortable and the pups friendly. The rapids of the South Platte roar just outside the rear window, offering great Rocky Mountain views. Summer rates aren't cheap, but reasonable for the location. An enjoyable stay.
