The Grand Hacienda Inn

We recently celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary with a four night stay at The Grand Hacienda. We learned that perfection is not one single thing, but a consolidation of dozens of little things that when put together defines the ultimate in a luxurious stay.||Heated coffee cups, cool salt/pepper dishes, magnificent views from every corner, absolute quiet, comfortable chairs in sun and shade, imaginative and colorful art everywhere. Our room was spacious, private, and the bed and linens were luxurious. We arrived with plans for hiking and other activities in the area, but after having already been on the road for three weeks, we simply collapsed in the gentle embrace and ambience of the Grand Hacienda. We enjoyed our books and conversations with each other without outside intrusions.

My wife and I had a delightful weekend getaway at the Grand Hacienda. We had three meals (two breakfasts and one dinner) all of which were among the best meals I have had in NM. This place lives up to its Luxury and Gourmet titles. This location is more remote and more expensive than the alternatives in the area. However, we found that it was well worth a special effort to have a secluded and yet luxurious experience in a breathtaking location. The hosts Jessica and Christopher are truly exceptional and will make sure your every need is catered to while you are staying with them.

The one night at The Grand Hacienda as well as the breakfast the next morning were remarkable. Our arrival, after making our way along the rustic, unpaved road, was met with a warm welcome and a warm cookie. The managers are not only pleasant but they are extremely competent. Everything in the gorgeous room was in order and spotless. The hummingbird feeder was covered with darting life, the mattress was of the highest quality and the bedding was first rate as well. Breakfast was served by the host, at a perfectly set table with a wide-open view of the mountains made famous by former nearby resident Georgia O'Keefe in her paintings from the Ghost Ranch. We have been together for 15 years as a couple and have traveled widely in the U.S., Canada and Europe. The Grand Hacienda Inn was the best place we have every stayed. Also, the most expensive, in the neighborhood of Yosemite's landmark Ahwahnee Hotel, but this one was well worth it.|I had marveled at the photos of Grand Hacienda while considering this splurge during our two-week vacation in New Mexico, but to actually be there bested even the best of the photographs. The promontory site overlooking Abiquiu Lake was stunning, the inn itself an oasis of art, design and luxury in remote grand setting.|Walking into the inn's inner courtyard with its bubbling fountain and various art objects prompted feelings of anticipation and excitement. Our stay at the Grand Hacienda was truly unforgettable. The drive there itself was part of the adventure — winding through beautiful New Mexico landscapes that made the journey so much fun and set the tone for the whole experience. Once we arrived, we were immediately taken in by the mesmerizing views surrounding the property. From sunrise to sunset, the scenery felt almost magical.||The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel not just like guests, but like friends they were genuinely happy to see. Their hospitality elevated the entire experience. And the food — absolutely incredible!
