A truly magical stay. We were lucky to see plenty of snow and even made a snowman taller than myself. Our room was very comfortable and offered the most stunning winter view. We stopped at several viewpoints around the Thousand Islands, and the hotel’s view was one of the best. The room was spacious and warm, and the heating worked well. Overall, it was clean, but the bedding (specifically the fillers) could have been cleaner. Due to the cold winter, we were the only guests staying that night. We had agreed to have breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and arrived on time, but the person in charge of the restaurant didn’t show up until 8:45, after we went looking for someone. Breakfast was just okay, not very tasty, but at least hot and freshly made. The town was extremely quiet and absolutely beautiful
What a disaster! Booked here for a weekend on the recommendation of friends who had stayed years ago. We had seen this beautiful water front building in the past and were keen to try it out. But we ended up being shoved into an old house right on the parking lot with a torn screen in the door and a porch that was used for storage. The room may have been well installed at one time but not well maintained. The jet bath-tub had cracks on the surface (with God knows what growing in them) and the drain was disgusting. There was a double vanity with a dripping faucet and spiders. The AC was very loud and when we turned it off, we could hear the loud din from the old refrigerator. After one night in that house, we asked to be moved and that was done without complaint. The second room was in the m
We booked for 1 night on Nov 28. I requested a quiet room/king bed. We were given a beautiful, well appointed, corner room overlooking the St. Lawrence River. People should be aware that this is an old historic building. The doors of the rooms don't fit tightly so bright light and noise transfers easily into the room from the hall. We heard conversations clearly. In the morning we discovered that we only had 1/4 roll of toilet paper (no spare) and no bathmat. We had to request toilet paper at the front desk. The breakfast was included. It was mediocre at best. The menu said they had gluten free options but they did not. We won't be in a rush to go back.
I want to open by saying we stayed off season in late September. I have no idea or opinion on what this place is like when fully staffed. We had high hopes for our stay due to the history of the place and location. We had spent the day in Gananoque enjoying ourselves fully and then went to check in. We had booked our Anniversary weekend in Gananoque in advance to include the meal package at the Watermark restaurant but on the day of check in we found out it was closed for the season. Rather than trying to figure out where else to eat they offered that we could use our prepaid amount to eat in their Pub. Unfortunately this was a mistake as it was more beer hall than pub and while we sat and watched the sun set through a filthy window we were treated to inattentive service and vastly underw
The Inn is a real gem on the beautiful St Lawrence River. The location is right on the water, just around the corner from the boat cruise dock, museums and a quick walk to main street restaurants. We spent the afternoon enjoying the view from the Muskoka chairs all along the waterfront before walking to the dock for our boat tour. Our room was in the Annex and it was perfect for us - no view but great value. It was perfectly clean, and modern. They do have lots of waterfront options as well. This is a family-run Inn and the service was professional and friendly. We had breakfast in the dining room which was good, as was the coffee. I forget the name of the young man who served us but he was very proficient at his job! I recommend the Gananoque Inn to everyone visiting the area.
