The Furr House

In the 1950s-60s, this was the home of my grandparents, Ralph and Laura Inman. I'm so pleased it's been tastefully remodeled and not torn down.

My wife & I recently attended a festival in McGehee AR, located on Hwy 65 in S/E AR. Hotel rooms were scarce, but a friend suggested checking out The Furr House B&B in nearby Arkansas City. I’m so glad we did. My entire family ended up occupying all the rooms. Arkansas City is a historic River town that was a major shipping port for paddlewheel boats traveling the Mississippi River before the great flood of 1927. This place oozes history. Community leaders are well into a long term plan to make Arkansas City a destination for travelers seeking a unique experience slightly off the beaten path. We stayed at the Furr house on a duck hunting trip . The house was extremely clean and the beds were out of this world comfortable . The people was easy to work with and even had a shed with a heater to accommodate our hunting lab . We felt right at home and if we ever travel back to the area again we will certainly stay there again , highly recommend this place .

I’ve traveled on business to Arkansas City and the surrounding communities many times over the last few years and have never been able to find first-class lodging in the area until Furr House opened! This place feels like home, not like the marginal hotel lodging that’s available there. It’s clean and welcoming, and proprietor Rick Hales is clearly a hospitality professional! Furr House offers the absolute best lodging accommodations and service in the entire area!

There are absolutely no words to describe! Must experience this gorgeous piece of history. The architecture is breathtaking. Very accommodating during the snowstorm for all guests. Food was FANTASTIC!
