The Bunkhouse at Northeast Mountaineering

You really can't beat a stay at the NEM bunkhouse for what it costs. Centrally located, it provides a clean and comfortable home at a really affordable price. The bunks are comfortable and the addition of a curtain on each one provides some privacy and helps have a better sleep. I slept really well the 3 nights I just stayed here. There are two bathrooms and a shower which were all clean. The shower is a little rough but overall not that bad. It's nice to even be able to get a warm shower. The main floor is really comfy and homey with 2 sitting areas featuring couches and chairs. Great place to hang out and read, watch tv or socialize with other hikers. The kitchen is also pretty well-appointed. I've stayed at other similar lodges or bunkhouses and they're always more expensive.

Worth the buck! Bunk beds are comfy and new. The spongy beds are super soft. Linens are white and clean. Curtains for each bed for privacy. Overall quiet place as there are only 12 beds in the entire hostel. So not at all noisy. Feels like staying in a cabin. Common areas are good. Interiors are great with cabin like feel. Everything inside looks new and clean. Parking is right outside in the hostel parking lot and is very convenient. No full sized kitchen but you get an induction stove, microwave and refrigerator. Utensils available to cook and eat. This place has 2 half baths and one standing shower. Half baths are clean. Two drawbacks 1. Shower area is not at all good. It’s moldy and looks pretty old. Shower head and shower curtain are bad. Entire standing shower area NEEDS renovatio

Really clean. Great location in the Whites for a good night's sleep when in town for hiking.

This place is quickly becoming a second home to me. I try to stay at the bunkhouse every time I visit the white mountains. I hike a lot so this place is perfect for guys like me. Clean. Organized. Cook your own breakfast type place. Cozy. Come and go as you please, so long as you’re being clean and courteous. Although the pics are not of the bunkhouse, but that’s what I end up doing when I visit this place. So if you hike a lot and ski often and want a place to rest for the night, with a warm shower and laid back home atmosphere, I encourage you to visit.

The bunkhouse is barely more expensive than a tent camping site at any of the campgrounds nearby and at least $150 cheaper than any of the other accommodations I could find nearby. I stayed one night before waking up early to hike up Mount Washington and it is perfect for that sort of thing. No real check in process necessary and the door has a keypad combination lock so you can come in late and leave early. All the basic amenities plus a nice communal living room/kitchen area with some board games, books, TV, coffee, and tea. As an added bonus, it's just 10-15 minutes from Moat Mountain brewery and smokehouse which has great food and better beer and it's also less than 20 minutes from both the Pinkham Notch Vistor center/Tuckerman Ravine trail and the MT Washington auto road.
