The Bavarian Manor Hotel

It’s definitely a different experience than staying at a traditional hotel. This place could be very nice with some updating, but the building is 160+ years old and the flooring is very warped everywhere so almost every step creaks and you can feel the unevenness with every step. It smells old and dusty too. The room door only had a regular doorknob with twist lock and the front door was always unlocked for guests, so it didn’t feel the most secure, but because of the secluded area it didn’t feel unsafe either. The bed in our room was not very comfortable (very firm for my taste, but also worn out so we both rolled toward the middle) and the bathroom was very cramped. Positive: History, very old building, its s shame the restaurant and bar are no longer operational. Negative: the TV was out of service, we arrived at 245pm and the inn was un maned till the following morning, all guest keys were left on the front desk. It was like being in the movie the shining.

Under new management and it is bad. I stayed here numerous times over the years, the previous owner kept it nice and food was good. Broken locks on doors, drop ceiling tiles literally falling from ceiling, no water purification, previous owner had nice system, the water is sulfur water and it stinks, can’t brush your teeth, can’t shower, can’t drink it. Toilet ran all night chain was broken, no security whatsoever you can literally push the door in! Room came with free breakfast, on the website it says sit down with menu, in which previous owners had and was great, so we get downstairs and it was a ghost town, coffe was instant coffee in a pot to make it look like brewed coffee, eggs were at least 2 days old, dry potatoes and bacon horrible! Staff was kind and accommodating for early check-in. Location itself leaves much to be desired. With some TLC it could be a nice option. There is a smell/order to this place that would prevent me from returning. Beds and pillows were quite firm. The water in our room had an awful smell. Some members of my family experienced sniffles and itchy eyes while here. This hotel is not our cup of tea

My husband and I spent 3 days last week at the Inn. We have been there many times through the years. It is under a new ownership who continues to make you feel very comfortable. They gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. The manager went out of her way to accommodate my gluten free diet supplying me with GF muffins and more. The room was cozy. Our dog loved it there. It was a very positive experience.
