The Balsam Inn & Cafe

Stayed here and skied at the Lapland Lake center. Jenny's an amazing host, and the common area downstairs was a really cozy place to relax at the end of the day. Thanks for the stay, and looking forward to coming back!

Like other reviewers have said, the woman running this place is very sweet and welcoming. The inn and cafe are very cozy and charming in terms of decor and vibe, and very clean. That being said, the rooms are tiny, the floor was significantly slanted to the point that the area rug was literally sliding to one side of the room, and the bed was one of the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept in. (I see others saying their beds were super comfy, so maybe we got unlucky.) There was something very wrong with the mattress — my partner and I were both sliding into the center of the bed and could not get comfortable. There was a point when we considered giving up and going out to sleep in the car. It was a rough night, and we were in the middle of a multi-day drive and needed a good sleep. The buil

Jenny & crew are awesome. A definite & sincere dedication to making the stay great for the guests. Rooms were majorly cozy & clean. They kept in touch prior & throughout the stay. One should note there is a shared bathroom with very squeaky floors in the hall/stairs, which could be a gripe for a light sleeper, but no worries here. Also, the wings at the bar are worth a stop!

The proprietor was amazing. She was always wiling to make our stay better. It was like staying at a relatives house for a visit! Just great!
