A classic lodge that must be experienced at least once! The building and grounds are amazing -- you can feel the history and the location is unmatched. Rooms are rustic, perfect for enjoying the nature of Yosemite. After hiking, enjoy the ample space and fireplace in the great room. The food, bar, and service are amazing, but book reservations early, as they are very popular! We will definitely stay again!
The Ahwahnee is an extraordinary historical experience, the story of how it was built makes you realize what a privilege it is to be able to stay there. It is a comfortable, relaxing, and unique way to enjoy Yosemite with many nice amenities. The view from the balcony of my room was breathtaking and I kept having to pinch myself to make sure it was real.
Reading many reviews we had really low expectations. However we were pleasantly surprised by the warmth and welcoming atmosphere of all the staff. Our room was better than expected, so no complaints there. Our only issue was the quality of the food. While not bad, it was still pretty meh, especially for the prices. Lovely atmosphere in the grand dining room!
Booked this hotel, was worried after reading a lot of negative reviews. First checking in Guest services were so friendly and helpful. I picked Mountainview room, amazing. The location, history is so worth it. I did make reservations for breakfast, Nina and our server Carliene were so charming and attentive. The elevator operators courteous, housekeeping left our room immaculate. The half dome, El captain, Yosemite falls, Bridalveil falls, mirror lake and tunnel view, amazing. the visitor center Park rangers so helpful. We also visited the native museum very informative and the last thing we did was hike the mariposa trail, OMG 2.5 hrs later we just made to the starting point, my husband wanted to see cal tunnel well we didn't make it were in our mid-sixties and I have to get a knee replac
Absolutely loved the ambiance, the live piano and the setting in such a gorgeous building. Drinks and Confit Potatoes were delicious. However, the prime rib and the chicken main dish were very very average and not worth even half of the price we paid. The young lady at the front was not welcoming at all and looked us both up and down as we arrived. This place has the potential to be amazing, but unfortunately it was pretty disappointing, will not be back anytime soon.
