Tamarack Sierra Lodge

There was a lot to love about this place :-) LOVED the location, the price, the rustic vibe, tons of fluffy white towels, excellent hot shower, pretty comfy beds, nice (small) pillows, kitchen set up with actual bowls and plates, sponge and dish soap. Incredibly friendly staff! Room size was generous. However bring ear plugs, and an eye mask. Only blinds on the windows, no curtains, and it really needed blackout curtains. The outdoor lights showing directly in my eyes through the sides. We stayed August 2025, they are doing an infrastrucure project essentially on property, so heavy equipment noise at 8 am weekdays. The rooms are more spacious than I was expecting and they have fully stocked kitchens including a two-burner hot plate and a kitchen sink. We were pleasantly surprised. It was a very comfortable place, with a lot of charm unlike interchangeable corporate hotels, and we would go back in an instant.

My family I went here for Thanksgiving and we just love the location with all of the snow and the great views.

I stayed one night in Tamarack Lodge in Dec 2024. The hotel pictures are not entirely clear in illustrating the characteristics of this hotel. I chose it because of the limited choices available in terms of price and distant to my destination Mono Hot Springs. The hotel looks old and average from the outside, but to my surprises, the inside is very clean, from the carpet, the blanket, the restroom, and the towels etc. The kitchen is dated but you can tell they try keeping it clean, simple, and functional. I saw comments about the Kitchen being dated and price is slightly high etc. I usually do not write comments but have to do some justices for this hotel, perhaps because the hotel manager is such a nice lady who is kind to me and gave me the best room... We arrived two hours before check in and were immediately allowed into our room early by the very friendly Donna. Our room was adorable, clean and warm. Donna let our kids use a little snowball maker she had and even sent them off with goodie bags when we left. The price was great, location was great and overall experience was great. We will definitely be returning.
