Sweetwater Lake

Absolutely stunning location. The road down isn't the best, but far from the worst. I made it down here hauling a 15ft 1964 camper with very little ground clearance and see no more issue making back out that I had getting down here. I do NOT recommend bring a camper if you don't already have an immense amount of experience hauling one down rough forest roads. This was the second worst one I've ever done, but was managable with the skills I learned over the years. Any vehicle with at least a little clearance should have no issue getting in and out in dry conditions. Wet would absolutely be another story. A short wheelbase than my 22ftlong truck would help too, road is a LOT of sharp peaks that I rubbed my skid on most of simply because of how long I am.

What a wonderful lake and trailhead. We spent a quiet night here in our camper van. First day we hiked down to the Cole Cemetery. The second day we hiked up to the Pinhoti Shelter. I wish we had more time to hike further. The road to the lake is steep and loose. If it was wet there is no way we would have made it back out. We packed out a full trash bag of litter due to some horrible humans using this land. I would encourage you to also bring a trash bag to help nullify these people's disrespect for public lands. Ugh. No ATT or Verizon. Even with a cell phone signal booster.

Great place but not easy to get too and it's very secluded so use caution parking here. You won't wanna walk outta here if you break down either and no cell service.

Secluded lake that isn't easy to get to. Perfect if you would like a peaceful place to fish or enjoy nature.

Beautiful place. Fishing was okay for July. I'm sure it's better at other times of the year. Road is a little tough but doable without 4 wheel drive. Would be tough after a rain or with long wheel base vehicle.
