Super 8 by Wyndham Mountain View

I stayed in one of the renewed rooms. It was clean, everything worked, zero bugs and I looked carefully. They had crews renovating other rooms while I was staying there, working fairly quietly. It's about half way between two Caltrans stations, so not super perfect location, but it was walkable for me with some planning ahead.

The front desk employees are very unfriendly to their guests. They look at you suspiciously and unless you start the conversation they won't say hi or good morning. The hotel room is pretty old, the pictures on the website don't reflect it well. The light in the bathroom is really dim, basically you need to keep the light on in the sink area, otherwise, you can't really see well inside the bathroom. The room is pretty clean but it's not super clean. The "breakfast area" is quite small, but given that you can only get coffee and hot water, plus prepackaged danish and a few apples that clearly had seen better days, you quickly realize you better walks less than a block and you have a pretty selection of places ranging from Starbucks to McDonald's. I have to admit that I was very disappointed

This place was exactly what we needed for our family of four! We had two queen beds & a twin rollaway bed. If you can get past the stained carpet, broken hinges on some cabinets, & a shaky toilet seat, this place is perfect, especially for the price. The parking can be a little tight, but manageable. We felt safe, especially since there is only one way in or out. Housekeeping were the real winners here. They do a fantastic job! One reccomendation, aside from some renovations, is to give out do not disturb placards on the doors. We slept in late one day & housekeeping knocked on the door asking if we needed anything. While most of us were up, we would've been upset to have been woken up. Aside from that, this place is perfect.

Definitely punches above its weight! You'll not mistake this for a Westin, mind you. No pool, no breakfast, no weight room, and no elevators. However, the rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, the fridge and microwave are clean and functional. And the room rate was almost half that of the Holiday Inn Express next door. The service here was fantastic. I turned on a light and the bulb burnt out. 7 minutes after I notified the front desk, the light was fixed. Try that at a Westin! While not the best hotel I've stayed in. It may possibly be the best value I've ever had.
