Dan and Mary were wonderful hosts. We got married at the Cherry Basket Farm in Omena and stayed in the Rose Room at the Sunset Lodge. It was the perfect place for us and simply darling. They gave us a delicious loaf of homemade cherry bread and a celebratory bottle of bubbly. We will be back!
Was immediately screamed at by owners upon arrival with a service animal. Airbnb has informed these hosts that they’re ill informed about the law but I would never recommend anyone stay here based on the behavior of the hosts. I cannot speak to the rooms since as soon as I parked my vehicle, someone approached me and started asking what I’m doing there. Extremely uneasy and unwelcoming feeling and environment. I hope the people who own this place will learn the laws and think about how they speak to people who pay to stay with them.
We had visited Sunset Lodge twice before, many years ago, and were eager to return. Now with new owners, we found Sunset Lodge to be even better than before, and we loved it before! The location is still amazing, located on the rise of a hill overlooking beautiful Omena Bay (on the Grand Traverse Bay) and within easy driving distance to Sleeping Bear, numerous wineries, farmer’s markets, several historic sites, and a wealth of interesting eateries in nearby towns. Sunset Lodge offers one and two room apartments; the website photos are very accurate as are the room descriptions. We stayed in the Rose Room. It was immaculately clean and large, had a nice bed with a firm mattress, a generous seating area, a small dining table, sufficient dishes, flatware, and glasses for three people, and a b
This was a wonderful B&B that we stayed at for 2 nights in July while in Omena for a wedding. The hosts were extremely friendly without being "in your face". They were always around for help or to answer questions. The room was very comfortable. I admit I was a bit concerned about the lack of AC in July, but it turned out fine. They have a tower fan in each room, and that was all we needed. We were very comfortable in the Sleeping Bear room, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was wonderful. One morning a homemade blueberry French toast with bacon, and the next a bacon cheddar quiche. Always with very good coffee, fruit juices, and a dish ifvfresh fruit. They always have a carafe of fresh cold water going as well. To summarize, well worth the visit.
We stayed 6 nights at the Sunset Lodge at the end of July/early August, 2019. We were in town for the Cherry Rubaix bike race that starts in Traverse City and ends in Suttons Bay. Sunset Lodge is one of the few places that is flexible on the # and days that you rent, which was what we needed for this bike race that is held on a Saturday, preventing a Saturday - Saturday rental. ||||We really enjoyed staying at Sunset Lodge; Mary and Dan were wonderful hosts. The property is well cared for and very welcoming. Their location overlooking Omena and the bay is quiet and offers a nice breeze and beautiful view. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with all your needs anticipated. We stayed in the 2 BR Trading Post Suite, and found Half & Half, butter, coffee, corkscrews for wine and local readi
