Just came back from a long weekend. I want to give the pros and cons for tent campers. Do not book site O15 as it really shouldn't be a camp site as it is not big enough and we arrived to beer bottles both empty & full that were not cleaned up. The pros are the staff was great, the facilities are very well maintained and it is family oriented with it being quiet at night (a huge plus). Don't let the cons stop you from coming here. We will have an RV next year and will be returning. This was such a nice place compared to KOAs we have been to and will never return to any KOAs.
Stayed 9/27/2025. For an older campground this place is nice. We have been coming for years. Well maintained, clean bathrooms, friendly staff, store, activities. As technology changes upgrades to wifi would be best to increase the experience, but you are camping and need to consider that. Site A premium site is a dead zone. Disappointed but it's a great way to get out and explore the nearby area for restaurants, bars and entertainment if you need tech in your life. Dog friendly.
We had a great time. Lots of free activities including mini golf. Two dog parks, friendly dogs not overly crowded. Staff was plentiful and friendly. Spots are decently sized and very private. Campground was fairly quiet. Indoor pool was clean and open until 9pm with a glow party Saturday night. Comfort stations were clean too. Very big campground. Will return!
This was our first time to Sun Retreats, we were booked in the Pirate Inn. While this is not the most top of the line campground it was very nice considering you are suppose to be camping. Our Pirate Inn was essentially a single wide trailer converted into a pirate ship on the outside. It wasn’t in its best condition, but considering the fact that we didn’t spend a ton of time inside it was ok, I do have to mention the queen bed was horrible and the mattresses in the loft are not actual twin mattresses, slightly smaller and thin. The shower water does not stay hot very long and there were some things in the inn that needed some updating. All in all the campground as a whole is very family friendly and we suggest using a golf cart to get around the site.
I have stayed here many times in the past years in my camper and have enjoyed the well maintained grounds and facilities. This year my family and I rented a cabin. It was well kept and clean. I have enjoyed all my relaxing vacations here at sun retreats. My only recommendations to sun retreats are more comfortable mattresses in the cabins for a good night sleep while you are on vacation and more activities during the week to keep the fun coming for the kids. Sun retreats is a great place to visit for a relaxing vacation!
