Cabin needed some TLC. Slider doors were not correctly in track and very hard to close because of it. Cobwebs everywhere, dangling from light fixtures, across the rafters, thick between screens and windows. There was a broom so we took care of some of it but was a bit disappointing to see it. Views from the deck were peaceful. Many bird sightings with morning coffee.
We would stay again - mostly because of the convenience of location and reasonable pricing. This is a no frills on campus option. The front desk are super friendly and helpful. Stone Hotel is a bit awkwardly located because you cannot drive up anywhere near the hotel entrance and the hotel entrances faces away from car accessible roads – it faces Green Lake – so it’s a bit of a walk from the parking lot or anywhere else a car is allowed to drive. Despite the entrance facing the Lake, most of the rooms to not have a view of the Lake or anything else. The room is small but functional and clean. There are not a lot of counters/surfaces in the room – a desk and a side table. There are no counters in the bathroom and the shower is quite small. Just steps from Kresge amphitheater, the Stone offers history and convenience set in a beautiful atmosphere. The hotel rooms are quaint and small but well kept, bonus if you snag one of the Art rooms, designed by students. The added bonus of meals provided in the cafeteria is huge. Be prepared to enjoy a stroll from the parking lot toward the hotel situated right by the lake.
Interlochen Stone Hotel was a perfect stay for us. Great food, great view, enjoyable walks, easy drive to Traverse City.
Truly outstanding place to stay if you're going to a concert at Kresge Auditorium. The rooms are a bit austere for the price, and I might have wished for a slightly more comfortable bed, but everything was clean and well-maintained, and the location is absolutely unbeatable. I was able to pop back to the room between sets, and the cafeteria (meals were included with the room) is in the same building. Food was simple but nutritious and filling. Just basic cafeteria food. Folks at the front desk were friendly and helpful, and the surrounding campus is beautiful. If you're just passing through the area and looking for inexpensive lodgings, I might look elsewhere, but if you're headed to Kresge for a show, the location here can't be beat.
