Stewart House Hotel & 1883 Tavern

The beautiful, charming, and historic Stewart House is the perfect base for adventures in the Catskills and surrounding areas! Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and even with the historic nature of the hotel, they are modernized and immaculately clean. Included coffee and light breakfast each morning is a great way to start the day. Delicious local food in the restaurant, art deco inspired bar, and the staff could not be more accommodating, welcoming, and helpful. Definitely hope to return during the warmer months when the ferry to Hudson runs from right across the street from the hotel. Thank you!

Our stay at the Stewart House was perfect. Staff are warm, helpful and welcoming. The room was large, clean and well appointed with a lovely river view. The inn has a charming ambiance. The restaurant for dinner was of high quality. The location is ideal for seeing area sites and museums.

This review is for the tavern only. We did not stay at the hotel. I was grossly disappointed in this entire experience. I relocated to the area 3 months ago and was very much looking forward to trying to this place! If you’re familiar with the area, you know there are not many places to go out and I had heard such good things, I was truly looking forward to our visit here. My partner and I booked a reservation for dinner on my birthday. Sadly, from the moment we arrived the experience was off and only got worse from there. When we walked in, the hostess had stepped away so we waited by the doorway between the tavern and dining room. The food was amazing, and the service was fantastic! I was there for a private event, but we ordered off the regular email. I had Via Ravioli and Affogato. Both were fabulous. The atmosphere and decor are great. Can't wait to come back next time i visit the area!

We ate in the hotel restaurant. If you are looking for an abundant, delicious feast, then you have certainly come to the right place. I had the cowboy steak special which was a substantial thick cut of beef with a robust mouthwatering flavor. It was topped with a unique jalapeno and corn butter spread which provided a sweet and bold, spicy kick to the steak. The steak was served with tender asparagus spears and potatoes which was a perfect complement to the ribeye. My wife had the fish and chips. This too was an enormous piece of haddock and came with their well known fries. For dessert, we shared the peanut butter mousse. This creamy treat wrapped up the meal perfectly. The service was super friendly. A fine restaurant with great views of the Hudson just a few steps away.
