I decided to take my kids here for our first family vacation after a positive experience my husband and I had here 9 years ago. We bought the Kids Club bags for them which we wouldn't get again. One of the toys in the bag was broken and we didn't get much use of the punch card that comes with it. The food in the restaurant was okay. We ordered pickup two of the nights we were there. We really liked the views and the indoor pools. The Teddy Bear mountain stuffed animals felt a bit expensive for what it was. The worst part of the trip was the bed and tvs. The bed was so uncomfortable that I woke up every few hours in pain and could not get a good night's sleep. The TV in the bedroom did not have a working remote so if we wanted to change the channel we had to change it on the TV itself. We n
I honestly wish I could give this place zero stars. I’ve been coming to Steele Hill Resort for about 21 years, and what I experienced this time was honestly shocking compared to how it used to be. The place was completely overcrowded and clearly understaffed for the number of people they allowed in. It felt chaotic the entire time. They have signs everywhere saying the adult Roman spa is for people over 16 due to state law, but there were dozens of very young kids in there with no supervision. Kids were doing cannonballs into the hot tub and splashing adults trying to relax. Staff were notified and nothing was done about it. The main pool area wasn’t any better. Kids were climbing on anything they could and jumping into the pool from it. No parents stopping them and no staff stepping in
We had a great stay at Steel Hill Resort-South. This was our first time to this resort and we weren't disappointed. My husband is disabled and can't carry things up the stairs, they had someone one right over to help us into the unit, very grateful. The studio we had was perfect for my husband and I. It was very clean, the furniture was nice, the bed(murphy bed) was very comfortable and the towels..the towels were fabulous, so soft and white(from Blue Fin, Boston textiles)!!! They have a lot of property for hikes, and a very, very informal golf coarse( 9 holes). So many pools and other amenities we are planning to go back there in the summer. This is a must stay place.
Honestly, this was a huge disappointment. They advertise an entire gaming section, which was one of the main reasons we chose this place. In reality, only 1 out of 6 gaming stations actually worked, and the front desk had no idea how to fix them or offer any solution. There’s also a paid arcade section, but it was completely out of coins, with none available at the front desk either. The staff overall was noticeably unenthusiastic and unhelpful. They offered a paint activity for kids, which we paid for, but when I asked the staff member running it for a box or any way to safely take the painted items home, the answer was simply no. When we asked if we could leave them there to dry or pick them up later, again no. No alternatives and no effort to help. We were told the ownership has been
Great location with great views (if you can get them). Everything else was a NIGHTMARE! Grossly overpriced and inconvenient ways to pay for things. The beds were just rocks they put sheets that they call blankets on. I spent 4 days in miserable pain because there was nowhere I could sleep comfortably. Taking a shower was literally suffocating because there were no vents. Even taking semi cold showers still left it so steamy that there was no breathing or getting dry! And I don't know what was worse. The guests that allowed their children to be absolute terrors or the staff that couldn't be bothered to get their noses out of the air. All in all this is not a place I will ever visit again!
