St Charles Motel

Horrible rooms, reeked of mold, bathroom doors did not shut. Painted over holes in the wall and vents. 1 out of 5 stars, would not recommend.

This is an older (not updated) no thrills motel on the main drag in Luverne. After driving all day we were looking for any place to stop for the night. The clerk was friendly and helpful and offered a military discount. You can hear the road noise. The parking lot was well lit and parking was right by our room. The sheets were clean and the water was hot. The TV worked and there was free WIFI. What else do you need?

They refused to rent a room to me

I've stayed here once before during my travels to Florida. It's old but was clean. I was still charged $65 for 2 people, even though the sign says $39. This last time, I was way over charged for just 2 people, $75! Plus the room I was in #18 was very musky with sticky carpets. They had a plug in trying to mask it. I had to open the door & air it out. Woke up with a terrible headache. I usually like giving my money to small businesses and just need a bed & shower. But when your masking the problem, knowing it's moldy. Not cool! Next time I'll stop in Montgomery!

The couple that run St. Charles Motel were very good to me. They put me close to Office which I appreciate. The room was very clean and it was very clean outside as well. It's a very old place but I'm really glad that I stayed there. It was peaceful which made it perfect. God bless !!!
