Sportsman Motel Simmesport

Roy, who runs this motel, helped me out a lot when I was stranded in Simmesport with a flat rear tire on my bike. He gave me a room for the night and made sure I was comfortable, called a friend who was a mechanic, and helped me find a ride to the bike shop in Alexandria where I got it fixed and could continue my journey. Really great guy who I can't thank enough. Hope you're doing well bud!

We decided to try this motel (a) because it is the only one in Simmesport and (b) to give it the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, it appeared as though our sheets had not been laundered at all or had been insufficiently laundered. Lots of human hair on the sheets! Also, there was a big gap between the air conditioner and the wall, requiring us to use duct tape to keep mosquitoes out. The air conditioner filter needs to be cleaned -- very bad smell when it's running. In addition, someone else's food was left in the mini-fridge. If this is your only option for a place to stay, it would be better to sleep in your car.

Worst an nastiest place I have ever stayed in my life. This hotel is 10×s worse than the worse hotel in my home town the cover had a huge burn hole in the middle the smoke detectors were all missing ( I'm guessing because the high class residents don't want to set them off from all the marijuana being smoked). I call it the ratchet resort an feel like I need some sort of shot to prevent me from catching anything from having laid in the bed

My overall rating of this property is 0. This being the only option in Simmesport @ $45, it was a disappointment. ||||Pros: On the ACA cycling route. Next door to a convenance store that also serves as the Hotel Office, that also served hot sandwiches, pizzas and Champs' Chicken. The food was O.K., but service slow. The family that runs this Motel is very friendly, unfortunately it does not make up for the sorry state this Motel is in. The bed was comfortable and the sheets clean. AC/Heat worked, but not makings to tell you what temperature you were setting. Came through eastbound on coast to coast bicycle ride as well.|Got me 70 miles in by 3 and wanted to press on to New Roads but didn't want to fight the DAMN headwinds any longer.|Check the room #114 first, and thought no not great, but to so many in this world, this would be a palace. So keeping in perspective, and the reasonable cost, the friendly family that owns the spot, the fact the owner and I got to chat about Bajaj Chetak, ( if you don't know, you would not understand ) right on the adventure cycling Assoc southern tier route, and will be able to hit the road early before winds pick up, I am quite happy to be here.|God bless.
