Customer Reviews
Dave and Christy were amazing campground hosts multiple years in a row! It quickly became our favorite tent camping place. We love fly fishing there and then it’s our dream stream further down stream or just to listen and relax to nature. We love our beautiful, chill state of Colorado! Our teens just adore this place with us!
3 night stay at Spillway Campground lot 9. The grounds are maintained in that the bathrooms are clean and smell good. Our campsite was up against the canyon cliffs and yet we still had a view of the water. We enjoyed fly fishing and exploring the canyon. The views are amazing. We saw mule deer, mink, otter, a moose and her calf (not at spillway but in the canyon) and abundance of playful chipmunks which were pure entertainment. I loved it as a child and came back for the purpose of reliving the canyon 50 years later. There is some work going on at the dam with what sounds like a jackhammer, but it didn't concern us in the least.
Great camp grounds. Some are close together but others are in the rocks and spaced apart. We had a great time with hikes near our site. Quiet and relaxing!
Love the place. Was on the campsite 2. The ground isn't flat but nothing atrocious. Still able to sleep comfortably. Beware only a 4 person tent space available bigger than that and you will not be able to put your tent in. The fire pit area is great as it has plenty of shade and there's is also a monkey watching your back.
Friendly camp hosts. Impeccably clean pit toilets. Great views. Riverside camp sites are the best (my opinion). I'm not a fisherman but there are many that camped there for what I'm guessing is a great opportunity. Unique sites nestled in rock outcroppings. Take the Overlook Trail (took me about 45 minutes) to get a view of 11 Mile Reservoir and a full look at the dam. There is a $7 fee to travel from the entrance of 11 Mile canyon to campground. Road is dirt with some rough spots, nothing really bad, but go slow and take advantage of the pull outs and take a look at the tremendous scenery along the river.
