Sparta Motel

OK, this is not a place that I'd stay if I were traveling with family. And although I've stayed in worse places, this place is still a dump. Pros: Location, walking distance to downtown Sparta. Nice neighborhood. Manager, wasn't bad. walked me to room and turned on lights and AC for me. Cons: The property is in desperate need of help. 1940's motel that needs paint, new fixtures, remodeling, new carpet, updated beds, etc. Price...I could see value if this was $25-30/night. But at twice or three times that amount, no. Cleanliness? This place needs more that just a quick vacuuming. I hate leaving bad reviews, especially in small towns where livelihoods are at stake. But this is not a nice place, and if the management can only say, "We're trying our best," then they might want to l

For the price of a room. The rooms are very outdated. 70's furniture. No microwaves but you have a mini fridge. For 70$ plus tax per night.

The health department should check this place out ... they will likely close it down. Bathroom was filthy. Toilet seat needed to be cleaned. Towels were questionable. Shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in at least a month. Bed sheets were clean however the whole room smelled like mold and mildew.

The owners and management team at Sparta Motel should be ashamed of themselves. This place was the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stepped foot in. There was black mold all over the walls and ceiling. I have videos and pictures. There were roaches and it seemed like the room hadn’t been cleaned in at least several weeks. The pictures online are many years old and they do not depict what the rooms really look and smell like. I’m calling the health department tomorrow. This place needs to be shut down before somebody that stays there gets sick. I’ve never in my life seen anything like this. I feel sorry for anybody that has to stay there. Please don’t take your pets or children here. It’s not safe for them to breathe the air there.

If it’s possible to give 0 stars I would. The department of health should really shut this place down. The mattress had black grime, it seems as if it has never been updated since it first opened. It is as if duster never touched an inch of any room. And the smell… I can’t even begin to explain it. We had to go to Walmart and get air scent to help mask it. The only thing I can say is that, I didn’t see roaches. But saying that indicates that bar is in hell for this place. To think, this place cancelled our reservation and had the nerve to charge $30 more because of a stupid eclipse.
