Spark by Hilton Matteson Chicago I 57

We stayed one night, and we were less than impressed. The front counter agents were helpful, but that was the best part of our stay. The room just didn't work. There was a chair on one side of the bed that blocked comfortable accessibility to one side of the bed. The deadbolt did not work to give extra security. The electronic locking device clicked throughout the night. The room just seemed dingy and needed some work. We won't choose Spark again.

I purposely postponed writing this review because I was very disappointed and angry with the management and how poorly I was treated by the manager. I am still disappointed but I am no longer angry which allows me to keep to the facts. With that said, there is absolutely no way I would refer ANYONE to this hotel. I was charged for a room that I did not use because "the maid cleaned up a room". Just because the maid cleaned a room doesn't mean I occupied that room. The room could have been assigned to another customer--which I believe is what happened. When I checked my bank account online I saw I received two separate charges for a room. Really just not sure how I felt about this place. It’s freezing when we got there. The front desk people are very sweet and nice. bathroom was a little gross and so were the bedsheets.0

The rooms are basic but the staff is very friendly and responsive. I had an issue with my first room and they quickly reassigned me another space. The breakfast & coffee bar was a nice touch too. They recently rebranded from Comfort Inn to Hilton, and I think they are still making updates. Don’t expect luxury, but it’s a decent value for a quick stay in the area.

Stay at your own risk. Don't let the name switch fool you like it did me. This acts as a motel more than hotel. Do not disturb signs were unavailable. I had asked team to not disturb me due to no signs available. Black mold was in the shower of my first room, as well as a strong smell of urine. I switched rooms and the next day, as I came out of the shower, a man claiming to be maintenance started banging on my door. When he demanded entry, there was no notice, nothing from hotel staff so I refused entry. He grew angrier. This was scary and I realized they would have entered my room if I had not been there. The staff was lacking in skills at handling this and I had to call corporate. Manager never seen. They claimed it was a fire inspection, during a stay you would need to give adequate n
