Sou'wester Historic Lodge & Vintage Travel Trailer Resort

We had the MOST special weekend! We stayed in the completely charming & adorable Estrallita. The live music was sweet, the staff were so friendly & helpful, and the VHS & record players added so much color to our stay. Do yourself a favor & book the private spa experience! Perhaps our new valentines tradition… or maybe for a summer visit. Regardless, we will definitely be coming back!!

Honestly I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, but I was so impressed! There were delightful surprises all around the property and they kept the bathrooms clean. Better than some other fancier places I’ve been too. I drove my own van. It was muddy and I was worried about getting stuck. I did get stuck but on the beach, not at The Sou. I called the front desk and right when they were about to give me the phone number of someone to help me, a stranger offered to tow me. Point is, I turned to The Sou and they were there for me. If you’re on the fence like I was, do it.

I love the Sou’wester! We have stayed here 4 times now and we always immediately start planning our next trip on the way home. This time I had an issue with the trailer I had initially rented due to a smell that was giving me a headache. I have a lot of dumb allergies/sensitivities. The person at the front desk was quick and kind to accommodate us with a new one (a super cool bus!) and waived the room change fee. We came out here to relax and just enjoy our quiet time and I’m so grateful for their kindness and understanding. Everything here is so well thought out and intentional. The little details in each space always delight me. Most spaces are also dog friendly which means we can we can enjoy our trip with our babies. I appreciate what this place is doing, trying to create a communal place and repurposing old vintage trailers, but it's just way way too expensive for what you get. We rented a trailer that was tiny, had a jenky old stove, an oven that didn't work, only a curtain as a bathroom "door", tiny bathroom with a shower that my partner could barely fit in, hot water that lasted about 8 minutes, twin bed, limited storage AND we were asked to take the trash out, and sweep for "extra karma" for $160 per night, if you can believe that. On top of this price, they also asked for tips for staff. Isn't that what my $160/night fee is supposed to go towards? Paying staff? They also had free regular coffee for everyone all day but I can't drink caffeine so I asked about decaf and was told I had to buy the be

I’ve stayed here three times over the years… the Sou’Wester is such a special place. I’m fairly low income, so I appreciate that they offer discounted rates during the off-season and midweek, so it can make a much-needed respite much more affordable. I love that you can walk or bike to all the important spots on the Peninsula (Camp Disappointment, Jake the Alligator man, etc.). Their partnership with Ilwaco Arts got me to build my first ceramics ever, and it was such a cool addition to our vacation. I have visited with a partner, visited alone, and visited with my small family, and all were unique and beautiful experiences I’ll always cherish. Thank you!
