Sonesta Select Boston Lowell Chelmsford

I have been a customer of the Sonesta hotel for over two years, and I was always treated very well, never a single complaint. Unfortunately, they changed management, and the hotel is no longer the same. The rooms are no longer spotless, and they no longer provide coffee in the rooms as they used to. Last Sunday, I arrived with my son after a long and tiring trip; it snowed the entire way from New York. I arrived a little early, and I told the young man at the front desk, who was very kind, that I knew I was early. He checked me in without any problems. Now I see that they have charged me $40 for arriving early. I think they should have informed me about this additional charge beforehand, but they didn't; they just charged me. I called, and they simply told me that these are the new regulat

Positive: The location in proximity to my business meetings and the price was very affordable. Negative: It’s my understanding that the hotel was recently sold to new owners and it definitely can use more amenities, room, renovations, and a thorough cleaning.

Really bad smell of body odour as soon as you entered the lobby, staff were sat in casual clothes with their shoes off at front desk. No paper cups for the coffee machine in the room, smoke detector hung out the ceiling, probably not working. Cables hanging out the ceiling in the corridor, saw another guest get thier suitcase get stuck in them as no one bothered to tick them out the way. Staff at the front desk very unhelps unhelpful. Only positive is bed was comfy and location wasn't miles from the airport. Honestly not worth the price you pay. Avoid!

The only benefits to this place are it's location and that it's a few dollars cheaper than nearby hotels. The rooms are not great, often you don't get a microwave or even a mini fridge. The last two times I stayed they were dirty, including things left on the floor by the last occupant and a half melted popsicle in the freezer of the mini fridge I did finally get - to name a few issues. Finally the customer service isn't great. I had a family emergency and had to check out early. They refused to help me with a refund on the day I didn't use. So what was already a stressful trip was made more stressful. They used to be half of what they charge now and provided better service. I don't know what changed, but I just wish they would provide clean rooms and empathetic service.

DO NOT BOOK HERE||Hotel is in terrible shape. But worse was going out to my vehicle in the morning only to discover all the wheels stolen and my vehicle sitting high and dry on plastic stackable crates the bases of which were located after in the lobby snack machine area. Police took a report and stated this||is a very high crime and drug activity area. Not accusing the hotel but inadequate lighting and no security cameras
