Historic 50 x 50 two-story adobe rebuilt for charm, high ceilings, astounding luxurious carpentry. Silver Creek Inn is on face social media book where you can see photos of rooms and the renovation process. Downstairs is for meals and conversation, with a lovely outdoor patio with a grape trellis. All doors have original locksets from 1885 but rooms otherwise remodeled to luxury. The friendly but professional owner worked as a waiter ithis building in the 90s before purchasing and remodeling it in the 2000s. He has trekked all the local trails multiple times, will give advice on trails if asked. He is also an expert on
Not quite a ghost town (it has a permanent population of up to 15) Mogollon sits in the glorious and historic Gila forest. It is reached along a winding road which climbs up into the hills for several miles. ||||The Inn was once a general store, but it has been (and continues to be) painstakingly and beautifully restored in Stan's careful hands. There is a huge kitchen/dining area; help is at hand to prepare the food you bring with you. There is also outside seating and a communal lounge upstairs to relax in. The original sliding ladder and shop shelves are now a feature of this spacious yet cosy room. Bedrooms are comfortable - simply and tastefully furnished in period style; it's like stepping back in time. ||||We received a warm welcome from Suzy and Stan himself. Whether or not
A friend and I had wanted to visit the mining ghost town of Mogollon, New Mexico, for several years and finally made it in August, 2018. There is only one hotel in this tiny town, which is only open approximately six months a year. Set in an old general store, The Silver Creek Inn has been beautifully renovated ( a process not quite completed) while retaining the flavor of the “old days.” The rooms are quite comfortable, the staff very knowledgeable and accommodating, and the natural surroundings are spectacular for hiking adventures.
Great place to R & R, especially in the beautiful patio with the grape vines, plants and mini pond. Sue is the best Inn Keeper! She will share stories, directions, hiking locations, history of the Inn and much more! We had the place to ourselves over Labor Day weekend and really enjoyed her company. :) The continental breakfast was filling enough for us, good coffee, juice, fruit, toast or bagels with cream cheese and butter and jellies. On our last morning she made home made fruit and nut bread! It was delicious. The owner spent many hours of his great talent restoring the Inn. The Black Walnut wood & glass enclosed stair case is just beautiful. I'm sure you will notice many other ways he has touched the Inn.
Everything about our trip to Mogollon was enchanting. The newly paved road was opened just the day before we got there. The drive up was beautiful, but observe the speed limit because of blind curves and the narrow lane. Now for the Inn. We were greeted at the door by our hostess, Sue. And my friend and I instantly fell in love with the place. This place has been lovingly restored and it is breathtaking. Sue gave us an extensive tour and history of the town. Mogollon is unique in so many ways. You may have been to “ghost towns” before, but this will become your town. The setting is gorgeous mountain forest under New Mexico’s blue skies. We had only planned for one night, but quickly decided to make it two. We both love photography so we spent a lot of time shooting the place and the town.
