Sierra Grande, a Ted Turner Retreat

I enjoyed a two night stay with friends this week. The room was small, and we found it odd that the bathtub/shower is in the main room with no barrier other than the shower curtain. That said, the room was clean and comfortable. The staff was outstanding. Super friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to take care of us. The complimentary soaks were wonderful! We will be back!

We stayed here for our 5th anniversary and after a long almost 8 hour drive, we were so happy to check in, settle into the room and soak before bedtime. We were very pleased to see the hotel was in walking distance of the local grocery store and Main Street for local shopping. The staff was amazing and a great help. The room itself was so pretty and I loved the view. However, the bed was horrible. I got little to no sleep bc of the constant turning to find a comfortable spot. Breakfast consisted of a few pastries, eggs and tortillas, which was a bit dissatisfying considering I had read that the lounge area was previously a restaurant, that area of the hotel seems under utilized. Overall we enjoyed our stay and plan on returning to T or C hopefully next year.

Those not from NM may not always relate to the environmental and cultural experience of our state but those of us who do appreciate it truly love it! The rooms don't really need to be this pricey though - there your only paying for the Ted Turner name. I would have marked romantic, but she wasn't in that kinda mood. Oh well, I still enjoyed my stay.

After many years of good experiences at the Sierra Grande and other Ted Turner places we had a horrible experience at the Sierra Grande. In room 207 the water turned hot after a couple of minutes and would not go back to cold making showering difficult. Remembering that there were showers in the hot tub area I deferred my shower to my hot tub time only to discover that hot had been turned OFF and only cold water was available. Although I allowed the staff to confirm by going to my room and checking they declared I was wrong!!! We will not be returning to the Sierra Grande! $300 + and No shower!!
