Shaw House Inn

We had the most wonderful experience at the Shaw House Inn. We spent four nights there and were treated like royalty. Our room was very comfortable and our breakfasts were phenomenal. We were served a hot, delicious breakfast every day, each day something different. Most of the ingredients came from the chef’s own farm. Ferndale is not only a charming town in its own right, but not far from some of the most breathtaking scenery in the US. Our only regret is that we don’t live a bit closer so that we could visit more often, with a stay at the Shaw House Inn, of course.

The image of The Shaw House used in this listing is no more... ||After being loyal and returning patrons of the Shaw House for over 20 years, we cannot overstate how disappointed we were to arrive in August '25, after being made aware it was under new ownership, and see what had once been a gorgeous "enchanted forest" of a front entrance yard entirely obliterated. ||With wood chips strewn everywhere, cars parked on what had been lush green lawns, trees down, flowering bushes shorn, beautiful plantings removed, gazebo gone, etc., everything that was magical and charming about the entrance and surrounds of the place has been stripped bare and left ugly. Unexplained folding chairs and a plastic table littered the drive, with a metal BBQ, discarded lights, orange cones rendering the entire ent

Support this gem! Located on the right side just at the start of the "main drag" of Ferndale which in itself is a one-of-a-kind town with beautiful Victorians and farms right at the coast. Lots of interesting history here. The Shaw House is the oldest B&B in the state and is run by a wonderful and welcoming team of ladies who made me feel right at home from the time I arrived to the time of my departure. My room was the one room added on (don't quote me) and had a private entrance; it was lovely. The others are original bedrooms in the house and each room is entirely unique from its layout to its décor. Even the house and its structure have a distinct look. Breakfast was fresh, wholesome, spectacular. I truly did not want to leave this place. The good new is I will be back. Thank you ladie

This sweet BnB is a must stay, even for the locals. I live in Eureka, my boyfriend was up visiting from Sacramento and we decided to stay after the fair on Saturday. The clawfoot tub in the Shaw Suite was my favorite part of our stay. We were able to walk to dinner at Tuya’s (highly recommend) and ran into the owners on our way back. Such a lovely couple! Oh and the breakfast they served the next morning was delicious. Orange French toast, I had anything like it. 10/10 recommend booking a room here!

We stayed in the Orchard room at the Shaw House Inn in Ferndale in late-Dec ($212). Set in a large estate of lawns, tall trees, a gazebo and horseshoe pit, the inn is a stately old 1850's mansion, the oldest in this historic town. Our ground floor room (like all of the dog-friendly rooms) had one door entered from one of the 3 salons and another from a small deck by the orchard. It was of moderate size with a high ceiling, antique furnishings (chest of drawers, 2 small stand-alone tables, 2 upholstered chairs), a very comfortable double bed, and a small TV with streaming channels. The bathroom was a long, narrow alcove with sliding glass doors along the side of the room, the toilet at one end, shower stall (unfortunately with tepid water) at the other, an ornate pedestal sink with an antiq
