Shasta Dam Motel

We had a car emergency and it was 103 degrees, so we checked into the Shasta Dam Motel because it was the closest and had air conditioning. I told the guy at the front desk our situation. I also told him my daughter has asthma and we needed a smoke-free room. He assured us the room would be fine. He rented us a room for $130. The room smelled terrible - completely infected with old smoke, plus eggs and debris in the carpets, the sheets were stained and had hair in them (seemed like they hadn't been washed). We were there for a total of 10 minutes. We couldn't stay in those conditions. I asked the guy for a refund. He said no. He didn't know how to work the credit card machine to issue a partial refund. He gave me $50 cash. I recommend avoiding that motel, if you can help it.

Old place. Didn't expect a five star. Reasonably clean, could be better with a little effort. The pool is excellent. It is deep so one can swim and tread water easily. Very refreshing when weather is 105 degrees. AC in the room kept up very well in the heat. Refrigerator and microwave As stated in another review the rooms are quiet. The bed was the best! Since we stayed 2 nights I was surprised the trash wasn't removed or towels replaced. We were out all day with a family event and just dealt with it. Oh well...frankly, we would stay again.

I just left this place 10 min. ago on 8/20/2025. I am 59 years old and recently had knee replacement surgery. I use a walker at times just to take the pressure off so I don't get too sore. I walked into the office and immediately noticed it looked like someone took a leaf blower and cleaned the parking lot by blowing it in there; pine needles, leaves, & dirt covered the floor. I rang the bell and as soon as the guy came out, he looked at my walker dismissively and in a heavy Indian accent he goes, "I do not have handicapped rooms. I cannot help you." I told him that it was fine. I had just had a knee surgery and that I use the walker only occasionally then he agreed to give me a room. I had called ahead and was told pets were ok but required a $20 deposit. I explained this to him

Shasta Dam Motel was the perfect stop for a hot shower and good nights sleep. Owner turned on our AC before we arrived, so the room was nice and cool. We sat outside relaxing and were joined by a very friendly cat.

We were passing through town on our way back up to Oregon and it was such a comfy little stay. Perfect for the price too!
