There are pretty spots to be found. Don't visit if you need everything perfect. Residents were all nice that we happened to meet. Owners are nice and helpful. Some gravel some dirt paths. Be cautious if ground is wet. Saw some big ruts. Pull through site was far from level side to side. Only road in/out is one lane with minimal spaces for car length pull offs. Thankfully minimal road traffic and nice pavement most to the way to campground. Caution If you have dogs. Friendly dogs, but. Two owners dogs believe in NO PERSONAL SPACE. Husky is worse of two, keep coming in to poke other dogs... ~Half of sites are long term residents. Which unfortunately many are very poor repair. Also surrounded by cars half taken apart. Thankful for safe camping spot and hospitality, but won't be back.
Beautiful RV park at the top of the beautiful, if narrow road. Owner is a sweet woman with a great sense of humor and attitude. It's a bit rustic yes but it's peaceful and quiet and clean. Very helpful and friendly and gave us a great price
We arrived at Shady Rest and as reviews had mentioned the road was one lane, but not as bad as many exaggerated. It was well paved and no low hanging branches were encountered. There were very tight turns, but we've learned that is West By God Virginia! We climbed up the hill into the park and looked down on our destination. Not good. Looked like a permanent dweller ghetto. No one was around so we called the number and the owner answered and said she would "get her guy to come show us where to go." Her "guy" was nice enough, but a little off and he pointed us to the "only site we have" on top of the hill not in the campground. As you can see it's not even a site! It was a stub up with power of some sort and water next to another permanent dweller right on the entrance road. We asked where
This is off the beaten path with many full time sites. They are very friendly, lots of cats and kittens.
We stayed 1 night on the way through WV. The small windy road is fine for most rigs as long as they aren't too long. I was in a 25 ft tt and it was fine. The final turn into the campground has a steep turn on a hill that is gravel that I spun my tires on. The camp spots are a mix of grass and some gravel and are claimed to be pull through but iso about that. It's really just some dudes property they decided to put hookups in Some of the electric has posts that are broken and the spot we stayed at was a 50 amp on fresh unpacked gravel that smelled like something big died recently. Won't be back
