Shady Pines Resort

This was such a great pivot. We had the State Park booked originally, but upon finding out there was no cell reception or wifi (I had to work) we headed to Shady Pines and the owner, Jake, was more than accommodating! We stayed 3 nights on the water and everything was great including the 16 types of birds we saw! Clean showers, laundry, and bathrooms. We rented the small pontoon boat for half a day and it was such a blast! 10/10 would recommend.

This place is a hidden gem! Relaxing stay, great panoramic water view and excellent customer service. Our dogs were happy playing in the water and watching the deer, geese and herons. Good WiFi. I really liked the bistro lights in the evening. We drove through the other 2 campgrounds in the area to compare - Shady Pines was definitely the best choice!

Darling little spot. We rented a jet ski and had a most excellent time! Molly is wonderful. Prices were very reasonable. You can rent one hour, half day or full day.

Avoid this place at all costs! Absolutely unacceptable customer service. We paid for several hours of beach access, yet the office manager completely failed to inform us that we were only allowed to stay in the small section where boats were docked, instead of enjoying the full beach. This resulted in us being bullied and treated disrespectfully by other guests who had paid extra for the front row — an uncomfortable and humiliating situation that could have been avoided if we had been told the rules upfront. When we approached the office manager, her response was shockingly unprofessional: “Sorry, I forgot to mention it. Are you planning to stay here much longer?” This is not the level of service anyone should expect from a resort.

I do not recommend this place! The beach is paid, $5 per person. We paid, and then the people who stayed there in the RW houses came and chased us away, as they said that they had also paid for a place on the beach. And the owner said that she forgot to tell us that there were no free places on the beach. They did not return the money. And the beach is bad, stones, the water in the lake is cold and there is a lot of algae! Bad place!
