Cleanest bathrooms I’ve seen at a campsite. Solar powered so there is light inside them at night. There’s a sink for dish washing, never seen this before and it helped so much!!! The hike to lower sardine lake is easy and worth it Truly a hidden gem and looking forward to returning many more times.
This is in a gorgeous area with beautiful views. This is a mixed review for two reasons.| 1) The boardwalk across the lower wetland was allowed to deteriorate and is now completely gone. 2) More importantly, there is a tripping hazard at the nearby restrooms. My wife broke her wrist, tripping over a wheel block while moving toward the door from the parking lot area. We wrote letters to the National Forest ranger district but received no acknowledgement. We hope to see this fixed with a taller barrier between the restrooms and parking area.
Simple campgrounds near the stunning Sardine Lakes. Bear boxes and fire pits. Clean and convenient bathrooms. Close proximity to other campers (very little privacy or shade) but it’s still a great experience.
Of course I will give this 5 stars, I'm the host! But it really is a nice place to spend down time and enjoy the Buttes, lakes and mother nature. I strived to keep the restrooms clean but need to know the secret to combating flies and smell, but I did my best. The cg is constantly full so you know a lot of people like it and come back annually for reunions, birthdays, school groups and just to get outdoors! You won't be disappointed.
Typical NFS campground. Sites were relatively litter free. Happily, folks seem to pick up after themselves pretty well. Pit toilets, potable water, plenty of hiking and walking options, great views and access to Sierra Buttes. Nearby lakes to paddles, swim, splash. Plenty of trees for shade and setting up a hammock. Dog friendly. Bear country: be bear aware and secure food and trash appropriately. Not everyone did...
