Santa Rita Lodge

The lodge is in Coronado National Forest but not run by the park. Madera canyon has a lot of trees, trails and a small stream. The casita room was like a little apartment with a huge tv, internet (had some issues), kitchen with utensils and dishes. The bird viewing area was rustic but bird plentiful. The lodge doesn't have a restaurant or much food besides snacks. The coffee shop seemed robust. The nearest restaurants are about 15 miles away.

Beautiful destination. You’ll see many species of hummingbirds as well as any migratory bird. My wife and I would order iced coffee from here while birdwatching. I miss the experience. Jesus is coming back soon. Stop doing wrong and believe in Jesus to save you from death forever.

We absolutely loved staying at Santa Rita lodge! The owner Steve was very nice and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time bird watching and seeing different species of hummingbirds at the multiple feeders they put out daily. Our casita was very clean and cozy with large windows looking out into the creek bed. Perfect little mountain stay for bird watchers. We will be staying again for sure.

Visiting Madera Canyon this place is on the road that goes to the top of the mountain in the National Forest. They have many feeders out with seeds, a water feature and many hummingbird feeders. They get an amazing number and variety of birds everyday. So if you're into nature you should definitely stop by and check this out. They have a nice gift shop too. There were many wild turkeys there feeding when we arrived around 10:30 in the morning and my bird watching girlfriend observed several birds that she has not seen before. The hummingbird feeders were right in front of benches and they were fearless. We were only feet away from Anna's hummingbirds that were plentiful plus we saw one that has another name but it used to be called the magnificent hummingbird and also a broad build humming

I have returned here several times. The cabins are comfortable and the bird watching and canyon trail access is superb. The regular cabins have some basic hotplate and microwave options for cooking. I suggest contacting the lodge regarding the availability of cookware if you are planning to prepare a meal. The heater for the room worked very effectively on our one cold night.
