My wife, daughter, and I just completed our first trip to Sandy Pines, and we could not have been happier! Our cabin, Red Pine, was perfect for us. Close to the beach, playground, basketball, and office. Beds were comfy, and a very clean Pack-n-Play was provided for our daughter. Firewood must be bought on-site due to DNR regulations, but for $11, we had more than enough for our entire stay. Also, other guests seemed to respect the quiet hours, which was much appreciated so our daughter could sleep peacefully. We already booked for a week for next summer. Great folks here, great place!
We have stayed at Sandy Pines 3 times with poppa and grandma (us) in one cabin and Daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandsons in another cabin. It is perfect for us. The resort is on a very nice wide swath of Big Portage Lake. Ample docks allow great fishing (especially for kids) and there is a nice well-equipped beach(lots of water toys). Cabins are updated and very clean. We rented a pontoon boat from the resort which makes boating quite simple. Big Portage Lakes connects with smaller Rice Portage Lake which then connects through a small wildlife filled channel to Deep Portage Lake. Each lake has its own personality and are uncrowded yet not too big. Fishing is very good in all 3 lakes. The resort has a separate laundry cabin, a fish cleaning shack and lots of tables, benches, basketball, teth
We just completed our 3rd year in a row at Sandy Pines. We love the resort. The beach is fantastic with lots of activities in the water for the kids. Access to 3 different lakes, so there are plenty of options for fishing. Cabins are very modern and well stocked. Owners Jim and Paula are very nice and will try to solve any problems you have, like a dead battery on your pontoon. Pam, Rod, and the rest of the staff are just as friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying here. Can't wait until next June again.
We have been coming to Sandy Pines for 15+ years - staying in various cabins as our family grew with kids getting married and then adding grandchildren. We love our annual family week there and feel fortunate that our children and grandchildren look forward to our time together there too. Some things that make the resort special include: owners who truly care about their guests’ experience, comfortable well outfitted cabins, availability of boat rental, activities for the kids, great beach, plenty of fish just waiting to be caught and the location (close to outside amenities yet not “too” close). The fact that they welcome our dogs is an added bonus!
We had a great week at Sandy Pines! The cabin was perfect for our crew and the golf cart rental was super helpful! The kids loved the beach, water toys, and pontoon! If we needed anything, the owners were just a text away!
