Sand Bar Flat Campground

Fishing ok, if there at right time. Sometimes my friends that are very good fly fishers get skunked here sometimes. I caught a couple of small ones on 2nd trip there. I guess the water faucets haven't worked in a few years. Pit toilets are ok. Good camping unless a loud group comes. Some guy vomiting really loud as we were trying to sleep last visit😂. Watch your step, lots of Rattlers and some poison oak. Road is rugged. Ripped a hole in tire of my new truck in August. Good to have HD tires.

My friends and I come here once a year as an annual "guys away from the family trip." We love this place. Very peaceful. We love to fish here. It has a good trail for hiking as well. The outhouses are clean. Caution though, the road to the campsite can be a little tricky being " off road" type. Not bad for trucks, but I drove a subaru impreza and I had to be cautious.

Takes an hour from highway to reach the campground on a rough forest service road. Definitely wouldn’t advise it in the spring without 4wd. Saw a rattlesnake but that doesn’t bother me much. Fishing was mediocre, decent number of small fish (6-8”), but didn’t see anything big. Beautiful spot, but I wouldn’t go back.

I was 7yrs old the first time my dad took me fishing here on the middlefork.He worked for PG andE and we lived in morgan hill.we would frequent this place every time we were in Pinecrest for our family vacations.We never not caught our limits of rainbows and german brown trout ever down stream.I am now 68 yrs old and still frequent sand bar just to reminisce of all the great times spent down there with my Dad and friends during my life.Memorys last forever.

Can't take a trailer really down here and I recommend tent camping if you stay overnight.It has 10 sites overall.
