San Gorgonio Family Campground

We’ve been camping here for three nights and, for the most part, the campground itself is very peaceful and scenic. However, our experience was soured by the park ranger’s behavior. As the photos show, there is absolutely no one around our site — no other campers in sight — yet we were approached and told, quite rudely, that amplified music is not allowed. If this is truly a rule, it would have been reasonable to inform us from the start of our stay, not suddenly on our third night after no one had said a word. The way it was handled felt unnecessary and unprofessional. A polite reminder would have been more than enough, especially since we clearly weren’t disturbing anyone. One toilet of two was non-functional on a big summer weekend. This is outrageous! There were large family groups. The policies of the campground were generally respected by all. And, when quiet time began, everyone seemed to respect it. Amazing.

If you want showers and flush toilets stay at Barton Flats or San Gorgonio campgrounds. Heart Bar is a little more secluded, no showers, no flush toilets, no sinks nor lights in the pit toilets. These are communal toilets, no His & Hers.||Heart Bar also has less traffic noise from Hwy 38 then the other two mentioned campgrounds which are very close to the main drag. ||We camped two nights with our two grown daughters and four of our grand kids and two dogs. Heart Bar is a true mountain campground in the sense that if you want the feel of being in an actual wooded forest, which it is, then you will enjoy the many trees that this campground has to offer. Nice campground that is well maintained and most sites are reasonably private. However, it has a significant amount of road noise, particularly early in the morning.

Great family campground with lots of double sites with room (more room then Barton). Nice hosts, water, warm showers, hiking trails but close to 38 (you can hear it). They sell fire wood. Nearest convenience store is 15 minus away. I was here during the week and it was fairly quiet.
