Salamonie State Park Recreation Site

Today was my first time visiting this beautiful park. It's a little wild and the trails are filled with adventure, which is amazing. The river is close by and many of the side trails end up there. I enjoyed finding the many waterfalls along the trails, and since it has been a dry summer, they were not very strong, but still cool to enjoy. My biggest issue with the park is the trail marking system. The official map on the website is very vague – with no numbers on the trails. There was a map posted at the parking area that was a little more descriptive (with numbers), and I ran across some folks who had found a color version somewhere. (There were not any maps at the trailheads that I could find.) In any event, om the trails, the marking system was a nightmare. Most of the trails had no ma

Beautiful year around, but especially magical in the winter after the waterfalls have frozen. For a particularly stunning hike, park at the Acres Land Trust Kokiwanee trailhead and head to the waterfall that's at the border of Salamonie.

Gorgeous! Nice hiking trails. Beautiful waterfalls. A bit muddy in some spots but that never bothered me. Love it

Excellent hiking with great canopy of trees and “any time of the year” hiking. Make sure to park at the falls hike sign and start there to get a good first exploration
