Rutherford Beach

Beautiful free beach-front, boondocking location. The road on the beach is very hard packed, dry sand that is very easy to drive on with no worries. Also no tidal worries as the top of the beach where all the RVs park is around 10-15 feet above the high tide point. No bugs, perfect temps and breeze. 10/10.

Beautiful beach! Parked the RV right on the beach. Enjoyed walking on the beach and finding shells. We are definitely going back!

Visited the 2nd week of Nov. for 3 nights. The road in was narrow and tight with a 26ft travel trailer behind a 3/4T crew cab pickup, but we were able to get around people leaving. There are old signs warning of swimming dangers. Warnings of bacteria were old and I wonder when the water was last tested. This was my first experience camping on the beach. We arrived late Saturday evening and had had to squeeze in to camp. The path in was well packed and tire inflation was not a concern. The area generally could hold a single row of campers, maybe 2 rows if you are camping as a group. Mosquitoes are insane at dusk, we left the door open a few minutes too long and had to redecorate our walls with squashed mosquitoes. Fortunately they were easy to clean up. So far my favorite place to boondock. If you go on a full moon it's magical. Make sure you bring sunblock and mosquito repellent.
