Roy Lake Resort & Lodge

I'm going to go with 3 stars today because of the state of the suites; however, I want to mention that they are remodeling them, and at that point, this will be a 5 star experience. The view was absolutely beautiful. I sat on the deck overlooking the lake every morning, and it was peaceful and relaxing. This is a popular fishing destination, and there is quite a bit of boat traffic in and out all day long as well as visitors to the store. If you are looking for secluded, this would not be it. If you are looking for quick access to the water and great fishing, this is a great spot. Most days, the kids fished off the docks and caught a plethora of blue gill and some small mouth bass. We rented the pontoon boat, which was affordable, and spent an afternoon on the lake. We caught some walleye

We were one of four other campers on that side. I used the showers early in the morning 6:30am. I ran out of hot water in about 5 minutes. My wife went later and there were 2 park attendance there. She told them the problem I had. She went later to the same problem. She ran out of hot water within 5min. I paid $55. Per day for cabins. I expect everything to be in working order. What's the problem?

Roy Lake had a wonderful campground with beautiful scenery. The beach is extremely nice as well. The fish cleaning station is well kept. The trails are fun for kids. The fishing wasn't too shabby either

We love camping here! The campsites are large. The lake is clean. Nice walking trail, fishing, canoe rentals, cabin rentals, fire pits, etc. The only downside is no water hook up at campsite but that’s okay we just fill our tanks. We can always get additional water there as we need. The restroom and shower facilities are clean. Reasonable rates.

I was impressed with the condition and cleanliness of the park vs. my memory from years ago. The bathrooms in the camping area were modern, clean and we'll maintained. Kudos to South Dakota, the parks department and the staff! If this review is helpful, please click on 'Like' to improve my status.
