River's Rest Marina & Resort

It is indeed possible for a room to be clean and have new bathroom fixtures but also be a total dump. Do not believe the description of the "resort" that's on the online booking websites. The rooms are so small that one is barely able to move without bumping into something. Pet friendly rooms have concrete floors. Not a bad idea in theory but not what I would call comfy or resort like. No chairs in the rooms with 2 queen beds because there's no room. My husband got a folding camp chair so he'd have somewhere to sit to watch football. Forget about housekeeping or someone to restock towels. Apparently we were supposed to call "the maintenance guy" for those. Um, what couple books a 4 day stay but only uses 2 towels and washcloths? And let's talk about the towels. They were like sandpaper and

Husband has been going here for years but he says "No More". Room had no refrigerator, no clock and not even a chair. Had to call Maintenance to get in door code wouldn't work so he had to give him a key. All other rooms in our group had same code. Resort it is NOT!

This campground is located off of the beaten path and in the middle of Wildlife Management Area. Beautiful area , beautiful view of the Chickahominy River and there is a motel here that visitors can stay in as well that overlooks the river . Very nice premises with nice spacious sites for your RV . There is a restaurant on site , the Blue Heron Grille . All pavement road within the campground so this cuts down on all the gravel and dust you normally get from a campground . This one is kept up very well .

This is a great location on the water, rooms are ok as plain jane as they are, and there is a pretty good restaurant on site not related. It's fairly quiet and it appears to be safe and the boats were not bothered unlike that nearby city I experienced not long ago. I don't believe they would allow a criminal element to roam the property here.

The best place to stay on the Chickahominy for fisherman!! The campground and lodge are clean and updated. Friendly staff like Johnathan are always on site working, answering questions, and keeping this up and running smooth. Being steps away from an amazing restaurant, a pool, and a easy uncrowded boat ramp is top notch.
