Riverbend East Campground

It's OK. Fair warning I'm just not into this type of camping. But, may be perfect for others. My understanding is, this campground recently changed ownership and is making major changes (for the better). I saw a playground,. There is water access for swimming and kayaking. Didn't use or look at, but did see a building designated as a restroom. Overall, It appears to be clean and is well maintained. It does need work. But it is too early to give a good or negative review as ownership changed about 1 week ago. To the new owners, best wishes and much success.

Mayfair Campground, once a charming local spot, has unfortunately declined significantly under its new corporate ownership. The absence of on-site management and a severe shortage of staff are major concerns. The store now closes exceptionally early, making late arrivals impractical—don't expect to check in guests past 6 PM. Beyond the staffing issues, the campground itself has deteriorated. Water pressure is consistently low, and many sites are muddy, sandy, and overrun with ants and mosquitoes. While every campground has its quirks, Mayfair, which was once a beautiful destination under previous ownership, is now poorly maintained and lacks basic security and support. The customer service is awful. I tried for three weeks to get somebody to help me with my utility bill and they still couldn’t help me warning. Do not camp here.

First initial impressions upon pulling into Mayfair wide open entry which was great for big rigs. Security gate at the entrance however I had to stop and block the gate in order to check in,did not see an outlined shoulder to park out of the way. Once inside the office/store staff was friendly and check in process was easy. Store is stocked but very minimal on anything else as far as merchandising or any initial items that would draw you deeper into the store to buy more items. Sites were large enough to accommodate larger rv's .hookups were nicely done and water pressure was good. Cons some sites are closely packed together, and had tree stumps which was right in front of most rv's entrance doors. my site was for the most part level so it didn't take me long to level up. It is a mix of seasonals and transients. The sites were grass but spacious and sunny - a lot of space between us and our neighbor. Our site was on a steep downward incline that we couldn't level the motorhome at all. The blocks we had sank into the grass. the campground is on the river with a beach and swimming. Also river access to Lake Ontario if you have a canoe or kayak. Wifi could be purchased by day for $5 or 3 days for $12. That worked well for us because we worked from home. The only problem was there was one dumpster for the entire campground and it was so far away you had drive or take a long walk. Enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.
