Riparia Campground

It's quite a drive to get there, a very long dirt road so your stuff (if exposed) will be quite dusty upon arrival. There's also a pretty steep hill on this gravel road as you get close to the camp site. Not sure it's something I'd want to navigate with a large trailer. It's a pretty sweet isolated location with only a handful of sites. My only problem was another couple in a trailer that were very trashy and rude. They had 2 dogs off leash and I had quite an interaction with them while trying to walk my dog (that was on leash). Luckily there was no dog fight or anything between the humans, it just made the whole trip not fun. There are no amenities there so bring everything you need, and plan on taking it back out with you. SO. MANY. TICKS. This is an awesome spot and is difficult enough to get to that I was totally alone (except for the ticks). I was here in May, 2021 and it might just have been the worst time of year but the combo of the isolation and the nearby river I was literally swarmed, as was my dog. Just walking across my campground ended up with 4-5 ticks on each leg (not even going near the grass). I you bring a nice insecticide fogger and hit the grass around your spot it might be just fine. I was in one of the spots back from the river and the ones closer might be better since there is less vegetation. I wish there was something that could be done, but that's nature! Can't recommend although it might be a fantastic little quiet (and free!) spot under other conditions.

This area is not very well kept and is rugged for the rv camper. The boat ramp was clogged with woody debris when I visited there. There were also some sketchy residents there with junk piled around their camp. Looks like they had been there a while and that the Corps doesn't patrol the site. At one time, this was probably a fairly nice place, but it's well past it's prime.

YOU CAN NOT ACCESS IT FROM THE SOUTH, THE DAM IS CLOSED TO PUBLIC. The water quality can be poor at times when flow is low . check the dams discharge to see if it's worth going. Wood fires are not allowed after July 12th
