Richland Park

Put in our kayaks here and floated down to Cartwright. Next time, we will put in upriver and float down to Richland so we can get a permit to camp in writing. We ended up getting prior permission to camp at Sundheim by phone but were told in the late night hours that we were not allowed to camp there. Since we only had the word of the contact for the park and didn't have it in writing, we almost had to pack up camp in the dark there at Sundheim. Thankfully, we were given a little levity and were able to wait until light to pack up. Do not camp at Sundheim. It is not allowed even if the park contact says it is okay. Richland does allow camping on a first come, first served basis with a permit from the Sheriff's office in Sidney, MT.

Nice campground....stayed here 30 years ago. They made improvements. It's free for 3 days...the only thing that is a pain is you have go to law enforcement building in Sidney to get the pass...and they run your plates and license...keeps the rift raft out I guess. Still a good place to stay.

Best fishing hole imaginable. Great for walleye catfish and both species of sturgeon. People do need to do a better job of cleaning up after themselves always trash, but a beautiful place for the family.

Clean, looks to be fairly new..nice sights and great playground for kids.

Quiet spot near Sidney, MT with access to the Yellowstone River. The park also has a campground and boat launch. Camping is free but requires a visit to the local government offices for a permit.
