Residence Inn by Marriott Midland

I was very disappointed with my recent stay at this Marriott in Midland, TX. From day one, the staff was unwelcoming and unhelpful. The two-bedroom suite we stayed in was in unacceptable condition. The carpet was torn and missing in several areas, with exposed nails that made it unsafe to walk on. We had to cover parts of the floor with bathroom towels. Both bathrooms had sharp, broken tiles, and the glass closet doors in both bedrooms were misaligned, barely opened, and looked like they could fall out of the tracks. Management attempted to move us to another two-bedroom suite, but every available room had the same issues, so relocating didn’t solve anything. Our dispatch called and spoke with Marta a couple days ago to book day rooms (we are pilots) and that we would be leaving around 6/630pm. She said that wouldn’t be a problem but they only had one room left so they would require a credit card to reserve the room. Was not a problem and our dispatcher paid. We checked in around 8am this morning. At 4pm, the front desk manager Erik, starte banging on our door and calling our room. I told him we have a day room booked til 6pm. He acknowledged, then at 430pm came up and starting banging on our door again. I tried to explain the situation to him, but just kept telling me they dont do day rooms, which isnt true considering weve done this before and was told it wasnt an issue when booking this time. The room was clean, bed was good and the sitting area very nice and good for visiting. The front staff was very nice and welcoming. The only issue was the bathroom and specifically the toilet. The room was to have had an ADA accessible and it did have a walk in shower but only one grab bar. The toilet was so low with no grab bar to help rise. A taller would have made a big difference.

Positive: Downstairs seating area for breakfast was comfortable and modern with plenty of space. It provided a relaxed atmosphere. Variety of nuts and fruits in the breakfast area available as toppings for oatmeal, cold cereal, or by itself was also nice touch. Negative: The exterior automatic sliding door made lots of noise as it opened and seemed to be on the verge of breaking. The sport court/recreation area was small and outdoors (not useful because it was windy and cold).

That free breakfast was good, they had a little bit of everything. No Cranberry juice though. Such a downer. We had a event the guy at the front desk friday night (11/14/25) was a jerk but it all worked itself out. We booked the conference room and had it until 12 he said "my paper work says 9pm" your paper work is false. But like I said it worked itself out. The rest of the staff was good just not him.
