Raven Roost Bunkhouse

Friendly owner, military discount, and close to Gunsite. Owner does charge person and not per room/family. With low occupancy (only 1 other guest) we had our own room, own bathroom, and own refrigerator---that made it worthwhile. If there had been more guests, then it would have been a bad experience. BBQ every night on the grill. Able to pickup our gear after Friday class and drive home. Would also work out for a group of friends that are used to bunking together and austere conditions. Old, rustic, and needs some upkeep. With the location, low occupancy, and ability to cook own food it was worth it for us.

A good deal as long as you know what you are getting and have proper expectations going in. Charges per person (so more expensive for a family than a hotel) but does give a military discount and it would be good for a group of friends. Extremely close to Gunsite and owner is extremely nice and accommodating. I found it worth the money since there was only 1 other party in the house. That meant me & my son had our own room, own bathroom, and own refrigerator (same as other party). If there would have been more people / groups, then it would not have been worth it. BBQ every night and was able to stop by on Friday afternoon and get all our stuff for the drive home. Old, outdated, and rustic. For what we had, it worked out great. Stayed at Raven Roost and it made being @ Gunsite so much easier than making long drives each day to accommodation elsewhere, literally a 2 minute drive to Gunsite office :) .||It is basic but very comfortable and you have the option of bunkhouse style or renting half the large house (which is nicer). Both are excellent value.||Just remember you need to bring all your own food and rinks in as you will be doing your own cooking etc. ||Manager there (Tim) is really helpful and friendly. I am going back soon for another course and will be using Ravens Roost again as it is just so darn handy to everything, especially after long days on the range.

I was the only one there. Needs upkeep, maintenance, and better storage (organization) for me to return for a stay. I chose it for proximity to my class and didn't want to have to drive every morning. I could also fix my own food. I have food allergies and don't really enjoy eating out much because of the challenge. Kind of pricy for what they offered.

Awesome facility and great location for training at Gunsight academy. Would definitely stay there again. It had a great atmosphere and was very quite. Has plenty of room and the amenities were very sufficient.
